Three Great Ways To Spend The Afternoon At The Nonantum Resort

One of the most common questions I get asked by our guests is “What Should We Do This Afternoon?” There are loads of fun things to do for every member of the family in Kennebunkport. Hit the beach, shop, go to museums, rent bikes or kayaks – the list is endless. However, something that is perfect for every member of your group and is uniquely “Maine” is heading out on one of the amazing boats that calls The Nonantum Docks home. There are three different choices and in this blog I will explain why one might be better than another for your family. Many people actually try out all three!
The most user friendly is the Rugosa. The Rugosa is a former lobster boat that has shaded seats. If you have never been on a boat, or if you are not super comfortable on the water, this is a great choice! Captain Bob Danzilo does an amazing job of explaining all about what is under the sea and even pulls a lobster trap so you can see exactly how lobsters are caught!

The second option is the Pineapple Ketch. The Pineapple is a sailing vessel and is a more adventurous trip than the Rugosa. The tour can be as hands on or as laid back as you would like; haul lines, raise sail, take a turn at the helm or just sit back and take in the beautiful views and fresh ocean air. Captain Christo Calavis will treat you to a fascinating set of stories of other boats and a who’s who of residents of the beautiful homes dotting the shore.

Captain Bruce Hebert is a U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain and a Registered Maine Guide and he is the Captain of the Libreti Rose II. He has over 40 years experience on the ocean. Captain Bruce is featured on the hit National Geographic Channel TV Series Wicked Tuna, a series focusing on bluefin tuna fisherman in Gloucester, Maine. He will use his knowledge of the area waters and to design a fishing trip to fit your needs. He will supply all the equipment and licenses. If you are lucky enough to catch something, the Nonantum kitchen can clean it and serve it to you for dinner!
