New Year, New Construction

You may think the off-season is a slow time at the resort, but that’s not the case! This year, our property is undergoing a major construction project to add a brand new elevator to the back of the main building, as well as renovations to replace the Ballroom floor.
IMG_3724“We look forward to showcasing our new and improved space this spring!” said General Manager Tina Hewett Gordon. “In the meantime, our maintenance and construction crews are busy working on the foundation, machinery, exterior and interior of our Carriage House Inn.”
For those who still love our original 1800’s Otis brass elevator that the bellman operates for you – don’t worry! We’re keeping it. We will also be adding a larger, modernized elevator to our Carriage House Inn for better service and accessibility.
The plans for the new elevator include an expansion/addition to the back of the building, as well as an enhancement of the function space to combine the Portside Pub with Room 126 and create a larger space with lovely water views and natural light.
While it’s ideal for the property to undergo renovations and construction in the off-season, the timing can be tricky for the sales team to continue to host site tours for prospective couples during ‘engagement season.’ “I ask all brides and grooms to come with an open mind and to have vision!” said Director of Sales Tim Ames. “And I tell them we’re fortunate to have owners who continue to put money back into the property to continually improve and enhance our space and amenities for our guests.”

The “before” photo. Come spring, our Ballroom will once again have gleaming hardwood floors!
Last year, the resort completed installation of 90 heat split pumps in its guestrooms in conjunction with Efficiency Maine. Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses!
