Going the Extra Mile

Guy RochefortMeet Guy. He’s our floor maintenance person (and many other duties as assigned). Guy is an exceptional employee who exemplifies the Nonantum attitude, culture and sense of genuine hospitality. He keeps our property spotless, which is a never-ending thankless task (especially when we have sticky dining room floors after an event, and children’s fingerprints on the windows after a busy summer breakfast).
Guy steps up to the plate, always asking how can he help. He’s always flexible with scheduling. Whenever we need him to be here, he’s here. He is one of those unsung heroes. He just sees things that need to get done and get them done without being asked. For these reasons and more, we were proud to nominate Guy for the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Going the Extra Mile (GEM) award!

“Guy spent all of his Fridays in here this winter cleaning up all the public spaces after the work men,” said Sandra, our Housekeeping Director. (That was no small task, as there was dust and debris everywhere from the construction and renovations in the off-season). “He helped me and my staff clean and open for the season,” says Sandra. “Recently I’ve been short handed and don’t have a laundry runner, but Guy just jumps in and lends a hand.”
Our wedding coordinator, Dawn, said that Guy is always asking “What do you need?” when she walks by and he is the first to drop everything and help out. And he does so with a smile. He has taken on additional responsibilities this year, helping out Bill and the Maintenance department.
Thank you for all your hard work, Guy. Congratulations on being in the running for the Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Going the Extra Mile (GEM) award! Results to be announced at the CVB Annual Meeting in April 2016…
